Beware: John Paintless Dent Removal / Auto Body work !@%&*

This page explains the why I recommend you DO NOT call this guy, John, to do auto body work.

John left me with a half done paint job, claiming that it was complete. John coated every place he

had worked on with wax and told me that after 24 hours I could wash it off and it would look great.

You can see what I'm stuck with in the pictures below.

His CL ad says satisfaction guaranteed. I now believe that is the furthest thing from John's mind.

Instead you can guarantee that when John sees your number on his phone John won't answer the call.

When called from another number and John finds out who you are he will hang up on you.

This is my experience.

I gave John notice of my dissatisfaction and patiently waited for him to have "an opening" to return

and finish the job that we had shook hands on and John had agreed to do to my satisfaction.

It hasn't happened like John (at first) promised. John knows I am dissatisfied and John has avoided

me for about 2 weeks. Too long!

Don't let John take your money. John has mine because I believed and trusted John's word.

Yes, I may have been a sucker. I don't appreciate being suckered.

Nothing John can can say or do now except returning my money will convince me to remove this page

because, unlike John, I care about others and don't want them to be ripped-off.

Hopefully, John cares enough about this statement of events and that it might be hindering John's ability

to continue defrauding people with John's shoddy work and he will refund my money.

John doesn't care about me and I doubt that you will have a better outcome if you hired him.

I've waited long enough for John's lies to be revealed.

I am dissatisfied with you John. Return my money if you want this truthful recount to go away!

John, send $440 via paypal to newsfeeds at yahoo.com and I'll stop shadow posting this truth.

There's that useless guarantee of satisfaction again. I doubt this claim too.

30 years roofing experience and John has to resort to grifter body work? I'll bet &S fired him.

At least John is not shopping for work as a grammarian.

More info: Here's is the email I sent to John, informing John of my dissatisfaction:

John,

Maybe you’ll see my email since you haven’t replied to my texts or calls. I did not foresee you being the type of person who would take advantage of someone so please don’t abandon me and resist replying to my requests regarding the paint work you initiated on October 5th, 2012 on my 1993 Mazda Miata.

We made a deal and shook hands for you to repair cosmetic damage: two indentations on my cars front fenders and one door ding at a cost of $200.00. This was to smooth and repaint a small dent in the drivers front top corner, a deeper dent on the passenger side top nearer to the door and a passenger side door ding.  Then, you suggested more work opportunities where you offered to repair dings over the wheel well on a rear passenger side quarter panel and to further fully repaint the plastic areas of the car surface, namely the front grill frame, both mirror housings and the rear license plate panel. I agreed that this additional work would be acceptable and we agreed on a higher cost amount of $400.00 for the completed job.

Although the work that you performed appears to be a genuine attempt to properly repair the places noted above, there is still the matter of satisfactory final appearance that is outstanding. You represented that the wax you had applied over the areas you worked on, when removed with by me after at least 24 hours using hot water, auto wash soap and a soft terry cloth towel, that a clear-coated, repainted paint finish would be revealed and that it would very closely match the existing paint color and finish and that I would like how it looked.

Even though the surfaces that you worked on were covered with wax at the time of payment and based on your assurance that the result would be satisfactory, I paid you the $400.00 amount we had agreed upon, and I even added a $40 tip for you travelling the distance to my workplace and doing the work in one day. You thanked me and ask for me to recommend your services to friends and co-workers. We parted on good terms.

Once I washed off the wax on Sunday (you texted that me the additional day delay would be “okay, no problem”) I did not find your representations of a satisfactorily completed job to be accurate.

First, the passenger side top fender near to the door and mirror which was dented has been raised back up by you (dent pressed back outwards) but there is a noticeable and clearly bumpy surface that has not been smoothed or repainted at all. I should think you certainly would not be proud to call this your work or say it is complete wherein I believed that you were skilled in this craft – you said it had one small raised area, not a bumpy surface that I see now.

Second, there is an evident paint drip and a dirt flake in the paint on the front drivers side fender that I had pointed out to you before you waxed over it. I thought you would have fixed that.

Third, the plastic surfaces are rough and sanding or wax indentation (swirl) marks are evident in the paint. None of the new paint you applied came out smooth or shiny.

You did not indicate that further work, which I now understand is described as “cutting and finishing” to smooth and polish the newly applied paint would still be required. You did not tell me you would need to come back and do more work for the job to be complete, but you didn’t say you wouldn’t do this either.

I believe that I did my part to clean off the wax as instructed. I do not wish to attempt this “cutting and finishing” myself to see if I can make it look right because I am not a professional auto body technician, because I paid you to do this work and because I do not want you to claim that any effort on my part has compromised the job in process. I request that you come and complete the agreed work satisfactorily and as soon as possible.

The photos show how the car you worked on looks today (Monday, October 8th) in the areas where you worked on it last Friday.
